Soccer Practice

As I sit and watch my oldest son’s first soccer (futbol) practice and my mind begins to wonder. First let me say this my son hasn’t played the sport since he was 3 and he is 7 now. I watch as the team goes through the basic drills and ensure that the players learn the correct techniques. The coach and his son slows down when needed to demonstrate, correct form, toe position, and so on. Its amazing to me just how much is required in order to play ANY sport. So I wonder just how much practice is God requiring of us?

Practice is defined as the repeated exercise in or performance of an activity or skill so as to acquire or maintain proficiency in it.

So what is God requiring of us? How much time is God asking for us to spend with him in prayer? How much time is he requiring us to spend in studying his word? I know that I could be doing that much more. I know that I need to spend more time with him in prayer. How do you know, you may be asking. Well, I can tell by how I react to situations that is taking place during my day. I can also tell by how I look at things and my overall actions.

So I must make up my mind and heart to do what is required of me. I must spend more time in prayer, obedience unto him, and studying his word. Its funny that I can make time for everything else but struggle to fit more of God into my daily equation. My eyes are open to what God is saying to me in this hour. To be always ready and be obedient unto him.

Heavenly Father, forgive me for putting you on the back burner of my life. My eyes are open unto you and I will be obedient unto you.  My heart is fixed and my mind is made up. In Jesus name I pray, amen.
